Fireproofing Inspector

  • Steel is a widely used material in an oil refinery or industrial process plant, as the industry deals with several highly combustible products, no industry is more prone to fire-related accidents than oil and gas. Passive fireproofing, when applied to the steel, retains the steel integrity intact for a certain period of time and prevents the steel from collapsing prematurely.
  • Fireproofing inspector course will educate you on how to inspect and control the quality of epoxy-based intumescent fireproofing and vermiculite-based cementitious fireproofing systems.
  • This course assumes all participants hold Painting Inspector approval (any level) and therefore have knowledge of inspection philosophy, surface preparation, anti-corrosion coatings and how to use common inspection instruments. The course will cover the inspection of common types of Passive Fire Protection as found on hydrocarbon installations for both on and offshore facilities. This will include structural members, decks and bulkheads and storage or process tanks and associated pipework. Mechanically fixed methods are not covered

Learning Outcomes

    • The course is designed to learn from anywhere and at any time and place through the IOGS Learning Management System (LMS)
